🖋️ Name Score — Onomancy
Type a Vietnamese full name and get the classic Five-Grid reading (Kumasaki school, 1918): each syllable converted to a Traditional Han character with its radical and Kangxi stroke count, the five grids Heaven–Person–Earth–Outer–Total looked up in the 81-number table, the Three Powers checked for element flow, the name matched against your birth-year destiny element, then everything totaled into a 100-point score with three practical tips and a reference name hexagram.

Stroke standard:
🗂️ The Five Grids and 81 numbers
- Virtual stroke +1: tradition adds one 'heaven stroke' above a single-character surname and one 'earth stroke' below a single-character given name — that is where every +1 below comes from.
- Heaven (Thiên): surname strokes + 1 (compound surname = sum of both characters). Ancestral root — displayed but never scored, you cannot change your surname.
- Person (Nhân): last character of the surname + first character of the given part. The core of the whole reading.
- Earth (Địa): middle name + given name strokes (single given name gets +1). Early life to ~35, home foundation.
- Outer (Ngoại): Heaven + Earth − Person. Your social ring and outside helpers.
- Total (Tổng): the true sum of every character, no +1. Later life after ~35.
- Reading each grid: look the number up in the 81-number table (above 81, subtract 80); its element comes from the last digit: 1-2 Wood · 3-4 Fire · 5-6 Earth · 7-8 Metal · 9-0 Water.
- Two stroke standards: Modern (default) follows the Taiwan standard used by modern onomancy books — ear radical = 3 so 阮 = 7, grass = 4, walk = 4; Kangxi is the orthodox 1918 convention the 81-number table was built on — 阮 = 12, grass = 6, water = 4. (Mainland dictionaries count 阮 = 6 — a third school.) Switch at the top of the breakdown panel; every grid recalculates instantly.
- Example (Kangxi): Nguyễn Văn An (阮12 · 文4 · 安6) → Heaven 12+1=13 · Person 12+4=16 · Earth 4+6=10 · Outer 13+10−16=7 · Total 22.
🔺 Three Powers — element flow Element of each grid comes from the number's last digit: 1-2 Wood · 3-4 Fire · 5-6 Earth · 7-8 Metal · 9-0 Water

💡 Three practical tips
🖋️ Five-Grid onomancy is a cultural tradition (Kumasaki Kentō, 1918) — a way our region has read beauty into names for a century, not a science. A name is lucky the way a poem is lucky: it means what it reminds you to become.
