Pluck it yourself

🪕 Folk Instruments

Four Vietnamese instruments synthesized live in your browser: strum a 16-string đàn tranh tuned to the pentatonic scale (hò–xự–xang–xê–cống), bend notes on the one-string đàn bầu with its signature 5.5 Hz vibrato, blow a 6-hole sáo trúc bamboo flute with real fingering diagrams, and strike a đàn đá — the 3,000-year-old Vietnamese lithophone.

Bấm từng dây, hoặc bấm giữ rồi quét ngang qua nhiều dây để vuốt như lướt móng trên đàn thật. 16 dây = thang ngũ cung trải 3 quãng tám.

Sound is synthesized with WebAudio: the đàn tranh pluck uses the Karplus–Strong string model; the đàn bầu voice is a fundamental + octave partial with a 5.5 Hz vibrato; the sáo trúc voice is a soft triangle tone plus band-passed breath noise; the đàn đá strike is a bar-instrument model with inharmonic partials and a stone click. Turn your volume on!
