Seventeen great rivers flow live across the map — the Red River, the north-running Kỳ Cùng, the west-running Srêpốk, the two Mekong branches — beside sixteen celebrated peaks and passes from Fansipan and Pu Si Lung down to the full 'four great passes', plus fifteen famous bays and caves from Hạ Long to the world-record Sơn Đoòng. River lines are schematic — drawn through the main cities and confluences each river passes, not survey-accurate channels. Lengths follow commonly published figures (Vietnamese reach noted where the river crosses borders).
